Join us for our this Community of Practice Session with special guests Laura Starkey and Susan Epsworth from Education Scotland who will present Education Scotland’s new youth Voice Toolkit.

This Communities of Practice is to support practitioners and leaders to understand how to utilise the new Youth Voice Toolkit across a range of settings. The Toolkit supports genuine consultation and youth voice activities with children and young people, across school and community settings.

This session will cover:

Finding the Toolkit and navigating the website
Implementation across a range of settings
Using the sections and understanding the principles of the Youth Voice Charter and Empowering Youth Voices Resource Pack.

The session will be tailored to meet participants needs and varying stages of toolkit implementation, including time for questions and professional dialogue.

Laura Starkey and Susan Epsworth are highly experienced Community Learning and Development officers within Education Scotland. With extensive CLD Youth Work backgrounds spanning years within primary, secondary and community settings, they bring a robust knowledge of how to facilitate effective youth voice approaches. Their work ensures children and young people – including those from seldom-heard groups – are meaningfully involved in decision-making.

Connect with practitioners across Highland, and hear from local and national voices, to explore how we can meaningfully embed the Highland Children & Young People Participation Strategy in everyday practice.

Monthly sessions will include:

  • Presentations from local or national speakers
  • Q&A to deepen understanding
  • Time for conversation, networking and informal sharing to support collaboration across Highland

Together, we’ll look at how others are working with children and young people to bring the Strategy to life and strengthen participation across services.

Our work is underpinned by the Lundy Model of Participation, the UNCRC, GIRFEC, and The Promise.

Supporting rights‑based, inclusive and relational practice.

Open to all practitioners engaging with children and young people across Highland.

This session is suitable for all sectors and any practitioner or manager working or engaging with Children and Families in Highland.

This is an online event.  Format will be presentation (presentation recorded only cameras and mics will be switched during this period), followed by question and answer session and group discussion (not recorded).
