Conference Information

This event aims to address the issues from childhood which can impact on people’s lives as they enter adulthood and beyond. By listening to, and hearing people’s personal stories, we begin to understand the issues and complexities which surround individuals, families and communities. You will hear individual accounts of domestic abuse, substance use, child abuse and the justice system. Hosted by the Community Justice Partnership and Highland Child Protection Committee this event is open to all practitioners working with children, young people and adults who may have been affected by any of these issues.

You will have the opportunity to hear from a line up of insightful speakers including: Darren McGarvey, Luke Hart, Matt Carey and Madeleine Black. The day will be facilitated by James Docherty from the Violence Reduction Unit.

Please note, this event will contain content which some attendees might find distressing. If you have any concerns regarding this, please contact us or discuss with a line manager. Due to the content, this event is not suitable for children and young people under 16 years.

Coffee and registration will be available from 9.30am. In order to allow time for the marketplace to be set up, there will be no access to the venue before 9.15am. The main Conference will begin at 10am promptly. The event will finish by 4pm.
