Getting it Right in Child Protection

Bookings are now open for our annual Conference.

Key note Speaker – Chris Hughes, Hotline Director, Internet Watch Foundation – Emerging Issues in the Online World

Chris is the IWF’s key contact with Law Enforcement bodies in the UK and around the world including Interpol. He leads on IWF’s victim identification referrals to law enforcement, ensuring that incidents are escalated to the National Crime Agency appropriately. He sits on several advisory groups which include:

  • Multi-agency preventing online child sexual abuse and exploitation group with Police Scotland;
  • The National Crime Agency CSA Prevent Group;
  • INHOPE working groups.”  Internet Watch Foundation, 2025

Followed by 2 workshops (choice is offered at registration) highlighting new or ongoing approaches working with children and families in Highland. These workshops will be themed through the life course of the child on a variety of topics. Further details of the workshops are still being finalised and will follow.

At the Conference, we are also showcasing projects & work from those contributing to Children and families wellbeing which gives participants the opportunity to ask the presenter questions on their work. These presentations will feature –

  • Children’s Rights projects
  • Co-production of materials
  • Direct service provision
  • Support for children/young people/families
  • Community activities

This Conference is specifically targeted at front line practitioners & managers working with children, young people and families including those working in adult services.

Places are available free of charge but may be limited to one per team/service/agency depending on demand. Please note, the CPC will report on an agency basis and may operate a non-attendance charge of £30 if places are not taken up and no notice is given (at least 48 hours before event).

A light lunch will be included. Vegetarian options are always provided but please do let us know if you have any dietary needs. Unfortunately due to the scale of this event we cannot cater for all dietary preferences. However, an on-site cafe is available if you would prefer to purchase an alternative option. Please email CP.Training@highland.gov.uk if you wish to discuss catering issues.

Your booking will be held as pending, you will receive an email once your booking has been accepted this is to allow fair place allocation for services.  You will receive a follow up email before the day outlining further information, venue and registration details.

Please note this is an in person event and there is no option to join online.
