What can I expect from this training?
This training provides a substantial opportunity to rehearse frameworks for organising information and knowledge, and focus efforts to help children and families meet their needs and manage risks in the real world.
This training should provide practitioners with:
- awareness/reinforcement of the opportunities and requirements of their role
- an opportunity to take stock of helpful knowledge and skills in assessment and direct work with children and parents
- Increased confidence in working with partners to develop, record and review child’s plans
- a structure for continuing collaboration in the local workplace
Please note, this is an interactive programme with lots of opportunities for discussion of live examples so the content is often dependent on the particular group. However, the course includes discussions around the following:
- Getting it Right – a view of the world
- Reflection on relationships and potential implications for development of thechild and the adult
- Reflection on disruptions to attachment and development – implications for the child/caregiving relationships and the wider world, including helpers
- Key components of resilience
- The challenge of information gathering – sharing and sense-making, nature, relevance, proporionality
- The nature of RISK – personal, professional and organisational perspectives
- Describing and analysing risks
- Examining the child’s predicament
- Action planning the work with child, parent and others – safely promoting resilience in difficult circumstances
- Consultants and critical friends
- Impacts of the work
- Getting it right – working on with concerns and the art of the possible
Who should attend?
Priority attendance for the Intensive Contact Workforce including:
- Social Work, Education and Health professionals in Lead Professional roles
- Other professional partners to Child’s Plans, including carers
- Supervisory and professional support roles
Attendees must have attended the Highland Practice Model course within the last 3 years (or have significant knowledge/experience of the Practice Model).
