Child Protection Learning & Development Survey 2023 is now open!

If you have contact with children, young people or family members as part of your role in the Highland area – we invite you to take part and share your views – we aim to capture and measure, the current and potential future learning needs to support delivery planning. The survey is anonymous and will take approximately 10 minutes to complete

A summary report of the overall findings of the survey will be made available to view on this website after approval form the Committee.

Child Protection Training is available free of charge to anyone who has contact with children in Highland. This includes those working with families and in adult services. Child Protection Training in Highland is developed and delivered in line with the National Learning and Development Framework for Child Protection.

Level 1 courses are suitable for the general contact workforce. (People who have minimal contact with children, young people or family members)

Level 2 courses are suitable for the specific contact workforce. (People with direct contact with children, young people or other family members including those working in adult services)

Level 3 courses are suitable for the intensive contact workforce who may have specific responsibilities with regards to child protection. Includes Lead Professionals and those with core responsibilities for assessment and planning for children including those based within adult services.

PLEASE NOTE: A minimum of 12 participants are required for a course to go ahead, Non-Attendance without sufficient notice will trigger a wellbeing check & may incur a fee to your service, please email CP.Training@highland.gov.uk if you cannot attend.

 

E-Learning

A wide variety of courses are available to you, from NHS Education for Scotland (NES) using the TURAS system. When you first visit you will be required to set up your own account with a password. To set up your training account and access the booking system visit: https://learn.nes.nhs.scot/

The TURAS system also offers a professional portfolio section, you may wish to upload certificates on completion of our courses to your training account for safekeeping.

In addition, The Highland Child Protection Committee have developed in partnership with the Care and Learning Alliance a range of E-learning modules which are available free of charge. Please click on the logo below to visit their site.  No voucher codes are required to access these modules.

The NSPCC have also kindly given permission for us to share their resource ‘How to Spot Neglect’ – a useful film from their Graded Care Profile 2 training toolkit. This will be a helpful reminder for all practitioners who have undertaken the GCP2 training course.

 

Safe & Together Training 

This training is aimed at practitioners who lead or contribute to assessment and planning processes for children, young people and families and those working directly with children, young people and families affected by domestic abuse. It is essential training for colleagues in Social Care, Justice, Health, Education, Police Scotland and Third Sector organisations working with child protection and/or domestic abuse. The next cohort of training is currently being scheduled.
