SUMMARY:Seminar: What does mental health mean for children and families?
DESCRIPTION:1-day Seminar Event - What does mental health mean for children
  and families? \n\nThis one-day seminar aims to bring together knowledge a
 nd experience in relation to mental health issues affecting adults and chi
 ldren/young people. The event aims to help practitioners better understand
  different mental health issues and disorders and the impact these can hav
 e on families and individuals. Practitioners will have an opportunity to c
 onsider their responses and how we can work most effectively in partnershi
 p with children\, young people and parents/carers.\n\nThe morning session 
 - 'Mental Health Awareness: (Don’t) Always Read the Label' –  will be
  delivered by Euan Williamson\, Forensic Mental Health Officer and Susie R
 edmond\, Forensic Mental Health Office Practice Lead. The Highland Forensi
 c Service look forward to introducing you to key concepts of mental health
  legislation before reflecting on different symptoms\, presentations and t
 reatment options of a range of mental disorders.\n\nThe afternoon session 
 - ‘Seeing and understanding’ - will be delivered by Dr Wendy van Riet\
 , Service Manager/ Lead Consultant Clinical psychologist. This session aim
 s to increase understanding about:\n\n 	How children and young people show
  their mental health difficulties\n 	How to understand their presentations
  in a trauma informed manner\n 	The support that might be most helpful for
  the children and young people in distress\n 	How to bring trauma informed
  practice to our day to day job\n\nNB: Delegates are asked to attend the w
 hole day.\n\nFormat: The seminar will be delivered through a combination o
 f presentation and interactive ‘workshop’ based learning\n\nWho is it 
 for?Anyone working directly with children\, young people and family member
 s (including adult services). This seminar may be particularly useful for 
 Social Workers\, Health Visitors\, Family Nurse Partnership\, GPs\, Matern
 ity Staff\, Early Years Practitioners\, Children’s Service Workers\, You
 th Action Teams\, Head Teachers\, Depute Head Teachers\, Guidance staff an
 d Third Sector Organisations working with children and families (including
  those working in adult services). It is likely that places will be taken 
 up quickly\, however\, further dates will be added shortly. Please note\, 
 tickets are limited to one per person.\n\nNB: A light lunch will be provid
 ed. Please advise us of any dietary needs at least 7 days before event tak
 ing place. We can only accommodate dietary needs rather than preferences. 
 However\, you are welcome to bring along your own lunch if preferred.\n\nV
