DESCRIPTION:Understanding Child Protection Processes\n\nThis training is de
 signed for staff from all agencies who have regular contact with children 
 and/or families\, including those working within adult services. This cour
 se covers different processes within Child Protection\; including the Inte
 r-agency Referral Discussion and Joint Investigative Interview. Participan
 ts will follow a case study through an Initial Child Protection Planning M
 eeting with groupwork focussing on analysis and formulating an Action Plan
 . The training introduces the role of the Children’s Reporter and statut
 ory measures of care.\n\nDelivered Online via MSTEAMS\n\nWhat can I expect
  from this training?\n\nBy the end of this training\, staff should:\n• U
 nderstand the purpose and process of Inter-agency Referral Discussions and
  Joint Investigative Interviews.\n• Understand the purpose and agenda of
  a Child Protection Planning Meeting.\n• Understand how evidence is gath
 ered to assess significant risk of harm\, analyse information and develop 
 an Action Plan to reduce or eliminate risk.\n• Recognise the importance 
 of gaining the child/ young person’s voice in Child Protection proceedin
 gs and the rights of children/young people and their parents/ carers.\n•
  Gain practical experience of using the risk and resilience indicators in 
 the National Risk Assessment Framework.\n• Recognise some of the key pit
 falls in Child Protection work and how to avoid them.\n• Understand the 
 role of the Children’s Reporter as gatekeeper to the Child’s Hearing S
 ystem.\n\nWho should attend?\n\nAll staff who have regular contact with ch
 ildren and young people and/or their family members should attend this tra
 ining.\n\nIn particular those staff who:\n• Have regular contact with vu
 lnerable children and families\n• Carry out direct work with children an
 d families\n• Contribute to assessments of children\, including assessme
 nt of risk\n• Attend Child Protection Planning Meetings and/ or supervis
 e those who do\n• Have specific responsibilities in regard to child prot
 ection\n\nPre-requisites:\n\nStaff must have completed “Recognition and 
 Response in Child Protection” or “Assessment and Analysis in Child Pro
 tection” within the past three years\, or have direct experience of work
 ing in the field of child protection.\n\nCourse\n\nThere will be pre-cours
 e reading which will take approximately 30 minutes to complete. The course
  lasts 3 hours. A minimum of 12 people will be required for course to go a
 head.
