DESCRIPTION:\n\nResponding to concerns about children can be very challengi
 ng for practitioners and it is vital that staff understand their roles and
  responsibilities in responding to children in need of protection. This co
 urse looks at responding to concerns about a child in relation to assessme
 nt and planning\, the Child’s Plan meeting and the Role of the Reporter 
 when things don’t go to plan. It also looks at the role of practitioners
  in working with families towards change.\n\nWhat can I expect from this t
 raining?\n\nBy the end of this training\, staff should:\n\n\n\n 	\nUnderst
 and the role of the Named Person and Lead Professional\n 	\nBe aware of in
 ter agency roles\, responsibilities and procedures\, including information
  sharing protocols and the investigative process\n 	\nConsider the way in 
 which children and other family members will be involved in assessment and
  planning\n 	\nFeel confident in contributing to the assessment process\, 
 including risk assessment\n 	\nRecognise and respond to the needs of parti
 cular groups of young people such as young carers\n 	\nUnderstand the purp
 ose of the Child’s Plan and Child’s Plan Meetings\n 	\nUnderstand comm
 on language of the child’s plan\n 	\nBe aware of the role of the Reporte
 r and the Children’s Hearing System\n\n\n\nWho should attend?\n\nAll sta
 ff who have regular contact with children and young people and/or their fa
 mily members should attend this training.\n\nIn particular those staff who
 :\n• Have regular contact with vulnerable children and families\n• Car
 ry out direct work with children and families\n• Contribute to assessmen
 ts of children\, including assessment of risk\n• May be required to supp
 ort the development and delivery of the Child’s Plan\n• May be require
 d to attend Child’s Plan Meetings and Core Groups\n• Have specific res
 ponsibilities in regard to child protection\n\nPre-requisites:\n\nStaff mu
 st have attended the Introduction to Child Protection course within the pa
 st three years\, or have direct experience of working in the field of chil
 d protection.\n\n
