DESCRIPTION:Getting it Right in Child Protection: Developing Competence in 
 Child Protection\n\n1 day course: 09.30am-4.30pm\n\nThis training is desig
 ned for staff who have regular contact with children and/or families\, inc
 luding those working within adult services. This course takes a more in de
 pth look at the different types of abuse and neglect\, as well as giving p
 articipants information about managing disclosures and handling sensitive 
 situations. \n \nWhat can I expect from this training?\n \nBy the end of t
 his training\, staff should: \n•Understand the overarching principles of
  Getting it Right for Every Child\n•Understand the SHANARI well-being in
 dicators\n•Recognise concerns about children\, and what to do in order t
 o protect and promote the welfare of children\, including those who are su
 ffering\, or at risk of suffering\, significant harm\n•Understand the im
 pacts of risk on children’s development\n•Recognise specific vulnerabi
 lities in children and young people\n•Consider the needs of specific gro
 ups such as young carers\n \nWho should attend?\n\nAll staff who have regu
 lar contact with children and young people and/or their family members sho
 uld attend this training.\n \nIn particular those staff who:\n • Have re
 gular contact with vulnerable children and families\n • Carry out direct
  work with children and families\n • Contribute to assessments of childr
 en\, including assessment of risk\n • May be required to support the dev
 elopment and delivery of the Child’s Plan\n • Have specific responsibi
 lities in regard to child protection\n \nPre-requisites:\n \nStaff must ha
 ve attended a child protection training course within the past three years
 \, or have direct experience of working in the field of child protection.\
