SUMMARY:Community of Practice - Children & Young Peoples Voices - Rhona Mat
 heson\, The invisibility of babies
DESCRIPTION:Rhona is currently a PhD student at Queen’s University Belfas
 t exploring the realisation of babies’ rights in Scotland having complet
 ed a MSc in Children’s Rights at Queen’s University\, Belfast (2023) u
 nder Professor Laura Lundy where her dissertation focused specifically on 
 the invisibility of babies in children’s rights policy and practice.\n\n
 She is also a freelance consultant working with a range of arts and volunt
 ary sector organisations.  This includes working with Starcatchers\, Sco
 tland’s arts and early years organisation\, an organisation Rhona was pr
 eviously Chief Executive of\, overseeing its development from a pilot proj
 ect in 2006 to an organisation that works locally\, nationally and interna
 tionally pioneering approaches to arts and creativity with babies and youn
 g children. Rhona is also currently evaluating the CARAVAN Creative Europe
  project which is exploring the impact of artist engagement in early learn
 ing and childcare settings in The Netherlands\, France and Catalonia.\n\nR
 hona is a Trustee of Together (Scottish Alliance for Children’s Rights) 
 and chairs the Advisory Board of the Playground initiative in Kent.\nConne
 ct with practitioners across Highland\, and hear from local and national v
 oices\, to explore how we can meaningfully embed the Highland Children &am
 p\; Young People Participation Strategy in everyday practice.\nMonthly ses
 sions will include:\n\n\n 	Presentations from local or national speakers\n
  	Q&amp\;A to deepen understanding\n 	Time for conversation\, networking a
 nd informal sharing to support collaboration across Highland\n\nTogether\,
  we’ll look at how others are working with children and young people to 
 bring the Strategy to life and strengthen participation across services.\n
 Our work is underpinned by the Lundy Model of Participation\, the UNCRC\, 
 GIRFEC\, and The Promise.\nSupporting rights‑based\, inclusive and relat
 ional practice.\nOpen to all practitioners engaging with children and youn
 g people across Highland.\nThis session is suitable for all sectors and an
 y practitioner or manager working or engaging with Children and Families i
 n Highland.\n\nThis is an online event.  Format will be presentation (pre
 sentation recorded only cameras and mics will be switched during this peri
 od)\, followed by question and answer session and group discussion (not re
 corded).\n\nBooking link will be sent on confirmation of booking.
