DESCRIPTION:Childhood Adversity &amp\; Trauma- Part two Adversity &amp\; De
 velopmental Trauma – Level 3\n\n2 HOURS (part of a 4 hour course)\n\nPle
 ase note this Course is delivered online via Google Meet – it is not nec
 essary to have an account to join.\n\nThis training is designed for staff 
 who have regular contact with children and/or families\, including those w
 orking within adult services\, or those who manage them.  Attendees need 
 to have done suitable trauma awareness course as a foundation – either t
 he Level 2 Trauma Informed Practice course in this calendar\, or an equiva
 lent such as the NES online training.\n\nThe course covers the content of 
 the second and third level of the National Psychological Trauma Knowledge 
 and Skills framework.  Content is adjusted according to the particular gr
 oup attending to ensure it is relevant for their particular service contex
 t\, and the Practice Model is used as a framework throughout.  People who
  have attended equivalent trainings from NES or elsewhere may still find t
 his of use as it connects the agenda to a Highland context.\n\nSession One
  which is also bookable on this calendar provides in depth coverage of Sim
 ple and Complex trauma\, with the short and long-term consequences for how
  people experience situations and cope with them.  Tools and approaches f
 or understanding and helping are covered in depth.  Session Two covers Ad
 verse Childhood Experiences and Developmental trauma\, whereby sufficientl
 y early or repeated adversity influences brain development with far reachi
 ng impacts on health\, learning\, behaviour and well-being.  The emphasis
  is on how the latest research shows that we can all be powerful in helpin
 g reduce these impacts\, whatever our role.\n\nEach session is self-contai
 ned and they can be attended in any order.\n\nWhat can I expect from this 
 training?\n\nBy the end of this training\, staff should:\n\n 	Know about t
 he range of adverse experiences that can affect children’s well-being fr
 om pre-birth to teenage\n 	Recognise the kinds of issues that children or 
 parents who have traumatic memories can present with\, and how to assess a
 nd address these in their settings\n 	Understand how adverse childhood exp
 eriences affect development\, learning\, behaviour and health and what thi
 s looks like in different contexts\, such as home\, school or community.\n
  	Have clear ideas how\, in their role\, they can reduce or prevent the im
 pacts of adverse childhood experiences\n 	Understand the roles of other st
 aff\, agencies and services\, and how to work together using a common lang
 uage\n 	Be confident in applying knowledge about trauma and adverse childh
 ood experiences to joint planning for children\n 	Have a simple framework\
 , based on SHANARRI\, for communicating about adversity and trauma safely 
 and clearly to young people and families\n\nWho should attend?\n\nAll staf
 f who have regular contact with children and young people and/or their fam
 ily members should attend this training.\n\nPre-requisites\n\nNeed to have
  previously attended a more basic trauma awareness course\, such as the Le
 vel 2 Trauma Informed Practice course in the CPC calendar or equivalents s
 uch as the NES online training.
